False Infinity: The Project

False Infinity

The Project

False Infinity started because I wanted to see what would happen if I tried to hack AI music.

What happens if you give a music generator something that was never intended to be a song? Equations. Paradoxes. DNA sequences. Things that contradict themselves. Things that don’t resolve. What does it DO with that?

Apparently, sometimes it gives you an insane barbershop quartet.

Which raises several more questions, starting with... excuse me, WHAT?

And now I need to know why. Can I do it again? What happens if I change this bit? Does the structure matter? Is there a pattern, or did I just witness a very weird little accident?

So that’s the project. I feed these systems strange things, listen to what comes back, document the results, and keep poking. There’s a spreadsheet. Because apparently “what the fuck was THAT?” requires documentation now.

I’m interested in the space between what I put in and what comes out. How does a mathematical contradiction become something you can hear? What survives the translation? What gets turned into something I wouldn’t have thought to ask for?

And then there’s the visual side... because apparently I couldn’t leave my eyeballs out of it.

I build visuals in TouchDesigner and work through the videos in Final Cut Pro, giving these experiments somewhere to exist. Shapes, signals, interference, impossible geometry. Something you can watch while your ears try to figure out what just happened.

You don’t need to understand the equations to be here. You can just listen. Watch. Find something beautiful or unsettling or ridiculous. Wonder how the hell we got from THAT input to THIS sound.

I want to know what else is in there.

And the only way I’m going to find out is to keep giving it things it was never supposed to sing.
