Can't

Don't tell me what I can't do

Listen on SoundCloud

They line up with rules like a firing squad
Pointin’ their fingers like hardened gods
“You can’t just do that, it’s not how it’s done
You need x, y, z, and then on and some!”
They hand me a list with a smug little grin
Stack it so high I could never begin
Tell me I’m broke, so I must be broken
Shoving their doubts like it's oxygen

But I’m not made of porcelain pain
I’ve bled through more than your paper chains
Your way is a cage, mine is a warpath
So move or burn in the aftermath

DON’T SAY I CAN’T
I’m the fire you can’t drown, the scream in the storm
DON’T SAY I CAN’T
'Cause I’ll tear down the throne you built to conform
You preach limitations while I bend fate
I make the impossible detonate
You’re all talk, all doubt, all decay
I build empires out of “No way”

(Yeah, say it again, “You can’t”)
Watch me carve it into stone
Your rules, your path dead and gone
I do it all alone

You dress your fear like it's wisdom and grace
But I see that fear dripping down your face
You never tried, so you cage the brave
Mock the wild just to feel safe
You worship systems, I break them apart
You measure success I pour in the heart
You whisper behind when you think that I fell
But I rose with the fire you left in my hell

I don’t need gates, your code, your guide
I’ve built my wings with what you denied
No blueprint, no handouts, no map
Just scars and rage and a thunderclap

DON’T SAY I CAN’T
I’m the spark in the void, the howl in the haze
DON’T SAY I CAN’T
I rewrite the rules, set fire to the maze
Your “must-haves,” your “if-onlys”I will spit
In spite of it all, I will never quit
You said I’d break I broke the game
Now remember my name

DON’T SAY I CAN’T
I’m the myth they fear, the truth they deny
DON’T SAY I CAN’T
I was born to defy I will realize
They told me “never" I made it now
I made it loud and I made it proud
Your rules are dust beneath my feet
This is my world. I don’t retreat.
